Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! It's time for our seasonal blog update at Hepler Law & Consulting (Hepler LC). So grab your favorite summertime beverage, sit back, and join me as I share the exciting adventures and progress that unfolded during Spring 2023.
1. Scaling New Heights, Both Literally and Figuratively
As I mentioned previously, one of my Spring goals was to conquer the majestic Mount Rainier. I eagerly joined a group of skilled guides from International Mountain Guides and fellow mountaineers, embarking on the Emmons route with high hopes. However, Mother Nature had a different plan in store for us. Just as we were approaching the final stretch at Camp Sherman, fierce 70 MPH winds roared in, making it unsafe to continue the ascent. Our guide made the tough call to prioritize our safety and called off the summit attempt. Battling fierce winds and hunkering down in our tents for 14 hours was a pretty unique encounter with nature! Though I didn't reach the summit this time, the experience was truly awe-inspiring. I learned valuable lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and the power of nature. I can't wait to return next year with renewed determination to conquer Rainier!
2. Adventures and Family Time
Springtime provided ample opportunities for new adventures and cherished family moments. My loved ones and I embarked on a series of unforgettable journeys. We immersed ourselves in the charm of Nelson, BC through a delightful house swap, spent quality time with family in Missouri, and blended work and pleasure at a CLE conference in picturesque Sun Valley, ID. We even indulged in the soothing warmth of Goldbug Hot Springs. Additionally, I embarked on a solo trip to Seattle, Mount Rainier, and the captivating Snoqualmie Falls. During this trip, I had the incredible privilege of interviewing Kate Edwards for an upcoming Vision Quest Media video. Stay tuned for its release!
3. Art and Community Engagement
Hepler Law & Consulting joined hands with The Reader to host a remarkable art exhibition during the Pend Oreille Arts Council's 46th annual artwalk. Our office was adorned with breathtaking artwork by talented artists Russ Cash, Molly Gentry, and Rob Turnland. Their creativity infused our workspace with inspiration and beauty. Don't miss the chance to visit our office and appreciate their masterpieces, as the exhibition will be on display until September 5, 2023.
4. Sandpoint City Council Race
Spring also marked an exciting step forward as I embarked on my Sandpoint City Council race. I recently had the pleasure of hosting my first speaking event at the welcoming Evans Brothers. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community, listen to their concerns, and address their questions. If you're curious about my campaign, feel free to check out my website at morganforcommunity.com. My campaign focuses on supporting small and local businesses, preserving trails and public lands, and finding innovative solutions to Sandpoint's housing crisis.
5. Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser Event for UCAN
I am thrilled to share that the Cinco de Mayo fundraiser event for UCAN, held in downtown Sandpoint in front of 113 Main, was an absolute hit! Despite the persistent rain throughout the event, our team came prepared with tents for each vendor and designated shelter areas, ensuring that everyone could still enjoy the festivities. The unwavering support of the community was truly impressive, as we collectively raised approximately $20k for the Unique Center for Athletes of all Needs (UCAN).
UCAN, a local gym and non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities in the Sandpoint area, received an outpouring of support from both local businesses and community members. Notably, Matchwood Brewery, McDuff's Brewery, Kaniksu Land Trust, and numerous others came forward to lend their support to this important cause.
The rain may have challenged us, but it couldn't dampen the spirit of the event. People turned out in remarkable numbers, displaying their commitment to making a positive impact in our community. The funds raised during the Cinco de Mayo event will go a long way in supporting UCAN's ongoing efforts to provide vital resources, support, and opportunities for individuals with disabilities in the Sandpoint area. The overwhelming success of this fundraiser serves as a testament to the boundless compassion and generosity that thrives within our community, reminding us of the incredible strength that emerges when we come together for a common cause.
As we celebrate the Summer Solstice, I'm grateful for the unforgettable adventures, personal growth, and community involvement that Spring 2023 brought to Hepler LC. I hope this update inspires you to embrace the vibrancy of the season and pursue your own passions.
